Questions about this site

1. Are you paid to write reviews?

No, I’m not paid to write reviews. Some of the books I’ve reviewed have been sent to me by the publishers but that does not affect my review at all.

2. Do you review books you haven’t used?

No, I only review books that I’ve used to study Japanese or to teach (very basic) Japanese to my friends.

3. What is your favorite Japanese textbook?

My favorite Japanese textbook has to be Read Japanese Today by Len Walsh.

4. When can I buy your Japanese Study Guide?

The Japanese Study Guide will be published early next year. If you want to be informed as soon as it’s released just sign up for our newsletter.

5. Do you write negative reviews?

While the reviews I write may point out the failings of a textbook, the overall reviews are positive because I only write about books that I consider to be great. I own about 20 Japanese textbooks that I haven’t reviewed because I don’t think they are very good.
